Miami River Power and Light Project Proposal – 1906

A 1906 proposal to dam the Little Miami ten feet high for electric power.

Here’s a Western Star article from 1906 that I found interesting. Todd had spoken in the past about the geographic features of the Little Miami River in our area. It appears that this feature was once recognized and thought to be useful. While a number of low head dams existed in the area (ranging from 3 to 4 feet) that had provided water power for mills, this proposal was for a 10 foot height. This would have put additional lands above the dams under water. While I haven’t found any further information on our subject, I’m sure costs possibly killed the proposal.
